A daily full time or part time nanny will hold a sole-charge position, and work
between 8-10 hours per day
Responsibilities/Duties of a Nanny:
- To provide a safe, secure and loving environment for your children.
- To provide your child's all-round development i.e. physical, intellectual, emotional
and social.
- To provide play activities according to your child's age and abilities, this includes
outings.
- To undertake the responsibility for the care of the children's rooms, laundry and
toys.
- To provide your child with a well balanced diet.
- To ensure that parents guidelines and disciplinary rules are followed.
N.B. Nannies are not expected to help out with general housework.
A live in nanny would normally be expected to work five days per week on Monday-Friday.
Hours per day will vary between 10-12 with approximately 1 or 2 evenings babysitting
per week.
This is a nanny who works for two families. The families share the cost of employing
the nanny, and agree on the terms of her contract together.
Nursery positions include nursery nurse, nursery managers, nursery assistants, deputy
managers, head's of room, and nursery teachers. There are many different qualifications
that will enable you to work within a nursery setting the most popular being NVQ1,
2 & 3.
Nursery workers work within a team, caring for the children, playing with the children
and concentrating on child development and learning. With the babies, they are required
to provide a stimulating and safe environment, change their nappies, feed them,
keep them clean, and follow their sleep routines.
With toddlers upwards, then nursery staff will be required to do all sorts of activities
with them, of a fun and educational nature. They will contribute to the planning
and organisation of those activities. They will be required to keep them safe, clean
and happy.
They will be required to communicate with the parents and prepare reports. Usual
nursery hours can be up to 40hrs a week and can be on a rota basis.
A mother's help is not necessarily a qualified person, therefore it is a partially
sole-charge position and duties regarding the children will vary according to their
experience.
These helpers assist with the day-to-day running of the family household. They can
be daily or live-in and work the same hours as nannies.
These are qualified Nursery Nurses or Nurses. They can be booked for 4-16 weeks,
offering 24hr availability, 6 days per week.
A Maternity Nanny specializes in the care of a new baby and will be familiar with
infant feeding, care and hygiene, and will establish a routine for mother and baby.
This carer would combine household management with childcare, managing the household
completely including shopping, cooking, light housework, supervision of household
staff etc. This can be a live-in or daily employee
